CPU core monitoring application

I just thought I would post this for folks that might not know about it...

There's a real nice application (free for personal use) called CPU RightMark, that allows you to monitor CPU core temps, loads, throttling, etc. I used it a couple months ago when overclocking my Q9450 quad core CPU, and find myself coming back to it all the time.

The link to the site is http://cpu.rightmark.org/download.shtmlhere[/link], and the file you want is the RightMark CPU Clock Utility (RMClock), down towards the bottom of the page.

It works on 32-bit and 64-bit systems, but you need to have the signed driver for Vista 64 to allow you to install it. If anyone needs the link to the signed driver for Vista 64, you can find it http://rapidshare.com/files/112841889/RTCore64.sysright here[/link].

It's a nifty little application if you haven't seen it before, and it is especially nice to monitor what's going on on all the cores during a render, for example.

Can it do 8 cores?

Good question; I don't know.

I'd say give it a shot. There are a bunch of release notes there, but I don't remember seeing anything mentioned about that. But you might be surprised, and it's easily uninstalled if it's not what you are looking for.

There are many similar tools.
FOr vista, there is a sidebar monitor for quadcore.
Nvidia's system tools have quite a set of utils too

You have to pay to get all the features, but Everest is easily the best monitoring package. For free, the best software is Riva Tuner, which is slanted towards GPU monitoring, but it also does CPU temps & fans. The next best freeware program is Speedfan. Google all of them and you will find the download links.

Riva Tuner looks pretty neat, maybe I'll take a look at it this week.

Going OT here a bit: I was going to ask Kenny--how long did it take you to get the SCVU certification? I don't think I have asked anyone here that.
