CPU Overhead

I have lots of projects that run on Vegas 3.0 just fine, but when I tried them on the 4.0 version they bog down. I'm only using it for audio, not video. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem? Is there a way to turn off all the video stuff because I don't use it? Maybe this won't help. Does anyone know what the problem is here?

You aren't by chance running a dual processor machine? I have the same problem myself and found that V4 makes no use of the second processor as earlier versions did. SF pointed out that they never had true multi-threading and did not officially have support though myself and others saw a big difference (in the negative) with V4 when using a dual processor setup. SF claimed that they would be adressing this though I am not holding my breath.

I believe the processor usage should be similar to the earlier versions of Vegas when using a single processor. If you are running ASIO you may want to try increasing you buffer size - low latency settings will use much more CPU.
