CPU runs at 99-100% when rendering

Although I can render successfully to my hard drive, I'm concerned that my CPU is pegged out during the whole process. What % is typical and what risk am I taking by operating my CPU like this?

System info:
Windows 7 professional, 32 bit
AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor, 2.5 GHz
4 GB Ram
AMD Radeon HD 6450 video card

Movie Studio Platinum - Version 12, Build 333

Thanks,
Gary

This is a good thing. It means your computer is rendering as fast as it can. Why would you want anything less?

As long as your temperatures are fine, so is your processor.
Want less cpu usage? Buy an i7.

Thanks Chienworks and musicvid10. I'll just keep an eye on my temperature and stop my worrying.

I asked because generally with electronics you want some "headroom" to avoid working any electronic device at its max for any extended period of time.

Video rendering often runs 90-100% for days at a time.
You need a good cooler.

Got it. Well my AMD "Catalyst Control Center" software has a temp gauge, but I'd prefer a temp gauge that takes up less real estate on my monitor. Can anyone recommend software for that?

I keep Core Temp running in the tray while I am rendering.

I use SpeedFan, not only will it show temp, it will control your fans.

Don't forget to periodically blow out the dust buildup inside the case (desktop) or vents (laptop).

Musicvid10 - Core Temp is just the ticket. Thank you.

MSmart - Thank you as well. I'll be keeping SpeedFan in my back pocket for now. Good tip about keeping the dust out.
