Crackling in recording - XP?

Just curious, because I will have to use another method if I can't fix it.

Crackling in the recording that wasn't there in 98, 98se, or ME.

Vegas 4. Recording 1 track at a time with a podunk little SBlive platinum 5.1

Any help greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem as you (i think)...so i downloaded the update for vegas 4, installed it and now the recording crackling is gone.
