Crash After VASST Install

I just recently purchased/installed VASST's InfinitiCAM, and now V6 tends to crash sporadically. Here is the detail to the error message that I get:

You are getting an access violation when Vegas is trying to read memory. I see nothing in that dump that suggests that infinitiCAM is the cause. What are you doing when Vegas crashes? Are you running infinitiCAM at the time or adding camera changes?

InfinitiCAM is a script that lies dormant on your hard drive until you run it. If you don’t run it, it never even gets loaded into memory and therefore can have no affect on Vegas whatsoever. The very architecture of scripts makes it highly unlikely that infinitiCAM (or any other script) could cause Vegas to become unstable and crash if the script is not running.

Thanks for the reply JohnnyRoy. This is a recent problem and the addition of infinitiCAM was the only thing that had recently changed with system. So that's why I thought maybe it had something to do with it (I know better now...thanks for the explanation).

What typically happened was that I would click on a clips crop tool (or any editing function) and then it would crash.

I wonder if this would have to do with a corrupt file in the filesystem? Is it a particular clip? If it’s random then maybe it’s a memory READ error. Perhaps one of your memory chips is going bad? Does it happen over long editing sessions? (i.e., maybe it is heat related?)

I would definitely contact Sony Tech support because only they can read the trace and make sense of it. Then you can narrow down what the problem might be.

It does seem to be random (not the same clip or action). Last night everything was stable....weird (but good). I'll see how it goes tonight and if the problem starts back up, I'll take your advice and see what Sony Tech has to say. Thanks.
