Does windows say you are running low on virtual memory? Is your C drive full? I'm assuming you have tried rebooting?

Yes, have rebooted several times.
All drives have lots of space,---especially "C".
Only using 13 of 80 Gigs.

hmmm - I'm assuming this has just started happening and everything worked fine before. Are you using a lot of hi res graphics in the project? Have you updated to the latest version of Vegas 6c?

ctrl-alt-del and check processes running in task manager. Be sure two instances of Vegas aren't trying to run, or another process is being started uneccessarily with Windows startup (since you rebooted several times processes should be starting fresh). Kill any process you don't need (user owned processes usually). What is running when you startup Vegas? Can you run a single audio or video file normally?

Task Manager syas ony Media Software Forum (this one) running,---performance 1 to 4 %.
Matter of fact I have two instances of Vegas on my desktop.
Only use one,---but should I kill the other?
Opened up Vegas again,---opens like lightening.
Checked again,---still fast!
'nother check,---still blazing.
Why was it so slow, and crashing before?
I wonder.

It does sound like you had two instances of Vegas running. I don't know if Windows can link one shortcut to two copies, but that's what it sounds like happened. Check info on each desktop shortcut to see if it is linked to the right .exe, and try opening each of them to be sure you get the right one, then delete the other. Good to hear it works now at least.

Check your cooling system and see if you can SEE your CPU fins through the blades of the fan/s.
