Crashes ALL the time.....

VegaMega wrote on 11/29/2023, 4:09 PM

I am experiencing an unworkable amount of crashes (Not Responding). Running 21.0.187. Have it very very reproduceable. Just dropping an existing mp4 video on the timeline and pressing the play button -> boom! Same thing with dropping a .png on the timeline. Just basically ALL the time.

I am not experiencing problems with other software on my system. PC is an i9 12900KS with 128GB DDR5 and an RTX 3090. So lot's of power there.

For sure I tried uninstalling it and re-installing it (twice) but that didn't help.

Any advice?

I am on the trial version and because of the scripting features I was planning to buy it. However, at this moment it all seems to be a big waste of time and I will not convert to a paid users this way off course! The problem with trials that are limited in time is that problems need to be fixed in that same time as well for a trial to successfully convert into a sales....

I'll happily provide additional info when needed!

One thing to do is to turn on the Hang detection feature in VEGAS. This will create a crash report which can be sent to the development team when the application hangs. Search for "Hang" in the internal preferences. (Hold Shift and click on the "Options" menu then select "Internal...")

I found the cause! It seems that Vegas Pro only works on Screen 1 in Windows 11 23H2. I have 3x 1080p. I tried it on all screens 4 times and it's very conclusive. On screen 1 it worked all the time. On all other screens it crashed (not responding) all the time.

I intend to mostly work through the scripting engine, so I really prefer to have it not on my middle screen (#1) as that is mostly my programming environment. So a solution would be very nice!

Just did and also added my info about the screen number. Hopefully (for them) I get a fix before my trial runs out.
