Crashes using Black Magic Intensity shuttle

I've been fighting issues with using my BM intensity for numerous builds now. For a long time if I used the *.dll from build 12.386 and BM version 8 driver my shuttle would work fine and Vegas was as stable as it's been since version 7.

Later dlls caused Vegas to not connect to the BM shuttle. Others have posted about having this problem.

With the last two released builds of Vegas 12, the older driver dll no longer worked and so I tried upgrading to the latest BM driver and using the latest vegas dll.

This caused vegas to crash every single time you engaged the external monitor and sometimes to get BSODs listing the BM driver as the culprit. The BM driver and shuttle would still work fine using the BM Express application. No crashes, no BSODs.

I've figured out how to prevent Vegas crashes. You must set the project properties to match the external monitor preview properties. For example, set both to 1920x1080-60i and it appears not to crash with V12-b726 and BM driver 9.7.7. I've only tested this a bit but before it would crash instantly.

This is OK but not ideal as I shoot in 1080-60p and want to set my project properties to match. The BM driver does not have a 1080-60p setting that could be used with this.

Hope this gives a clue to the developers on where the problem is.

And just a little FYI back to the OP - there has not and will not likely be any further formal development agreement between SCS and BlackMagic. The last formal agreement for joint cooperation and development cycle between these two parties was with the SCS development and release of VegasPro Version 9.

Sony still ships a black magic driver - if they do that they need to take some responsibility for if it works. It's code has changed recently just by file size alone - plus it's working better than it was so they haven't given up on it.

@ videoitguy - where did you get that information? i'm running int pro quite happily on v12.

if scs or bm have stopped communicating then i think i might get a little worried ;-(

They're talking in this part of the world, anyway.

if you are talking a blackmagic driver that is unzipped when you do a VegasPro install -that is the developed code of several years ago. That is NOT all you need to necessarily make different products work seamlessly.
The word on contractual agreements between entities comes right out of the mouths of the the BM engineers who know what the score is.
