Crashing

julien-colarullo wrote on 1/26/2021, 11:34 PM

Hi, I'm using Vegas pro 18.0. It just keeps crashing in various situations. When I'm editing on the timeline, when I'm importing videos, when I'm trimming videos...
The software freezes, I have to close it, reopen and loose everything that was not saved

I've done the latest update

windows 10 family

I'm editing Gopro videos, 1080p, format mp4, 60 fps

what are your system specs and project settings?

RogerS wrote on 1/27/2021, 1:18 AM

Are your graphics drivers up to date (help/update drivers)?

What value is dynamic ram preview set to? Default is 200 MB.

julien-colarullo wrote on 1/27/2021, 1:30 PM

I have an Intel Core i7-9750H
8Go Ram
system 64 bit
Nvidia Gefore GTX 1660Ti, updated
dynamic Ram preview set to 200 MB
There's barely anything else installed on this computer, which is almost brand new.

I have installed the drivers already

Nothing wrong at all, the only weak place is the amount of available RAM you have.
In that case set in Preferences/Video the amount of reserved RAM preview to 0 and/or double the amount of RAM on your hardware to at least 16MB.

Start your own thread for assistance.

Having same issue... random crash since update - sometimes no warning. Software just disappears. Sometimes crash on save, sometimes after existing, although that was already happening. Is it easy to roll back to last version? I'm on a tight deadline, but upgraded hoping this would fix the previous crashes. If I should start my own thread let me know but I read another thread on build 434 and OP was pointed here.

This link will let you download an older build to roll it back if you need to.

Update. I posted the other day about the fact that this build was crashing every ten minutes. It was now its not.

My machine ran better with the previous Vegas version with the intel display driver disabled. I did a driver update in Vegas and reinstalled the driver and low and behold I am a happy bunny!

No idea why but if you were having the same problem give it a try.
