Create directory of files instead of iso for BluRay?

My current version of DVDA (v6.0) creates a directory of many files for regular DVDs, but a single .iso file for Bluray disks. Has the latest version been changed to allow DVDA to write a directory of many files for BD, and to burn BD from a directory of files instead of .iso? I like being able to just click the VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO file in a regular DVD's set of files and have Windows start playing (not dealing with disks at all), or being able to drag and drop .VOB files into a Vegas project to extract a clip. To do the same with BD .iso files, I have to mount the .iso as a virtual drive and that's a hassle. I worry that in 40 years the .iso format won't be supported any more, but the video file formats within the .iso might still be. Just seems to be an unnecessary extra step to get at the video when I have things archived on hard disk.

No, Blu-ray is still an iso file.

On Windows 10, you can right-click on an ISO and select Open With/Windows Explorer to to access the disc files. You can then extract them by just copying the folders to a new directory.

Like I said, unnecessary hassle. I don't want to carry around packed and unpacked versions of the huge files and not all my computers are Windows10. Also, somebody sent me a BD as a directory of files. What's a good free program to assemble them into an iso file so I can burn with DVDA? Or can you recommend a better free BD burn program?

Do you want to create a video bluray or a data bluray? DVDA can burn to a Bluray which will not be an ISO file. It only creates an ISO file when you prepare the video for Bluray.

I was just hoping that the latest version of DVDA would be able to burn a BD from prepared files that are not wrapped in an ISO file, the same way it handles regular DVDs. On my big hard drive farm I have been archiving directories (VIDEO_TS) for standard DVDs, but .iso files for BD of the many weddings and shows I have recorded. In 50 years nobody will use discs or .iso files and family will just want the video content within. I would love to just expand those .iso archives to remove that level of decoding. Looks like I can expand with Windows10. (Having a video codec in 50 years will be a separate problem.)

Here's a suggestion. I haven't tried it.

Use Win 10 to open the iso and save the contents to a folder. Delete the iso as you no longer need it. You then have the m2ts video files available and can burn the folder contents to a Blu-ray disc if required. Nero and possibly the free ImgBurn should do this.

ImgBurn may also answer your enquiry about a free programme to convert a Blu-ray folder to iso. Alternatively Nero should do it by 'burning' to Image Recorder.
