Create DVD button forces DVD to be in writer

I tried support with no answer so I will try here. Recently upgraded to Ver. 5 of DVD Arch. Created my menu's, etc etc. Now I want to just create a DVD image (Video_TS and Audio_TS) to burn later with NERO. Press the button and it hangs and hangs.

Do the same but first put in a disk in my burner. NOW it gives me the option to choose the DVD, file or master

Why do I have to have a DVD in to get this choice ? Now I may be out of touch as my upgrade was from Vegas 5 to 9 and DVD Arch 2 to 5 but geeze...talk about inconvenient

is this a bug ?

I've never seen that, arcorob.

Whether or not I have a disc in my drive, I click Make DVD and select the Prepare option to burn my DVD files to my hard drive.

Yes, prepare only creates the DVD files in a hard drive folder. Create DVD will prepare if necessary, and then burn the files to a DVD blank. If you don't want to burn then use prepare.

Yes, I understand and glad to get confirmation that how I THINK it should work is correct.

It does not solve my problem. Tech support has NOT replied to my email and I have a BUG ...If there is no DVD present it won't let me prepare the DVD files. It just hangs (alt-cntl-delete shows not responding) and I have to crash the application.

I have another bug I have to TRY and report also (in VEGAS 9 Pro, wont let me change color on FX soft Border - Black is the only option even though it presents a color gauge)...

How do I get through to support ???? Arrgggg ...May have to switch after 8 years with to premier

Can you check what is your "Default prepare folder" and "Temporary files folder"? Perhaps they point to your DVD burner.

See "Options", "Preferences", tab "Burning". In any case you can choose the button "default all" on that tab to see if that changes anything.
