Creating a "Play All" option using DVDA.. how to?

Hi, so far my DVDs authored w/DVDA/2 have been ones that have a menu that lists out scene selection links to each chunk of video on a DVD ... eg a dozen or so clips... but I don't know how to link them..

What's the right way to format it in DVDA2 such that I can create a "play all from current selection" option for each button (so if they click say 'scene 3' it will play scene 3, 4, 5 etc in a row til end of DVD) ? And (would be same command as for scene 1), a button with "play all from start"?

I think the answer is on Gary's excellent DVDA2 tutorial DVD somewhere, though I can't recall where ... or, anyone know offhand?

Appreciate any help, thx much ...

Ken

Ken, where the scenes are chapters, normal scene selection will do just that - play from that chapter through to the end of the whole movie.

Where separate clips are involved, it's a question of setting the second movie as the end action to the first etc.

The complications come if you don't always want users to do the play all thing - I'm not right up with this but I believe it's a question of adding the same media separately to a new menu, then it may be possible to have the end actions happening from that menu, but not if the movie(s) are played from the original menu. (hope that makes sense!)

DVDA will detect when you add the same media more than once and not "double up" and waste space.

Good luck - I hope someone who has actually done this will chip in .....

Thanks Peter... that's helpful ... how I author DVDs (I'm a total newbie at this), is to create my source avis (or from what I understand, maybe better to render 2-pass NTSC mpgs via vegas first), and just drop them into an opening menu screen, each with their own button to play, in DVDA2.

So I need to learn how to set the closing action to auto play the next clip on command or some such ... best would simply be to figure out,

"How can I create a separate "Play All" button, in addition to media clip buttons, in DVDA2? I'll re-watch Gary's video, I think it had the answer, would appreciate if anyone can post a quick answer ... thx (and I'll send you a free copy of the www.WritingAdwords.com DVD if you want as a thank-you).. first 1-2 folks who answer... thx..

Ken, Rob's post under "End Action question" may help - it covers a similar situation.

Set up as one avi in Vegas with markers for each chapter (video clips). Import to DVDA. Set up button to play entire video and button for scene selection menu to play individual clips. If you want clip to end and return to menu at the end of each clip, set end points for each clip. DVDA will set up one file and you can play either entire file or individual clips as desired.
