Does your DVD support Divx5? The VCD standard is MPEG1.

Use MPEG1. That is a VCD. If you make a SVCD, it is MPEG2. Divx is currently just a computer codec, although I think there are some players on the market that will play Divx.

If you use the MPG VCD template, you will be golden.

Best way to make a VCD I've found is to encode to mpeg1 for VCD, I use TMPGEnc but VV can also do it and then use Nero to author. That way I can have menus etc.

Nero can also do the encode but the results aren't as good as the encoders in VV or TMPGEnc.
