Creating a Video Wall in Vegas...Tsunami Rocks!

ken c wrote on 8/26/2004, 8:00 AM
Hi, sorry for the newbie question... I have hundreds of video motion backs and lower 1/3rds etc.. and to make them usable, at my fingertips, I'd like to create a "Video thumbnail wall" in vegas (I'm using vegas 4)..

Any tips on can this be done easily? For example it would be great to have something like the digital juice juicer thumbnail view, but animated, in one large .mpg or .avi I could pull up, say have 5-8 of those large video wall files, so I could browse my video stock inventory easily, to select video clips for use in whatever current project I'm working on..

make sense? Ideas on how to do that?

challenge is, having hundreds of video loops and not being able to preview them easily, in motion (vs static thumbs)..

Appreciate it, folks --

There is a video wall veggie here: http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/help/kb/kb_projects.asp?page=5&sort=4&cat=0&sw=0&author=0
on the Sundance site. Lots of other veggies too.

Thanks, I'll try modifying that veg for a vid wall, making a 5 wide by 4 tall one, to get 20 animations on a screen ... appreciate it!

Thanks -- here's a low-res version of a 5 second 9-screen wall made with the help of that veg ... appreciate it!

http://www.daytradingu.com/vidwall1.wmv

looks sharp with the (21meg) uncompressed avi .. that's a 347k compressed wmv .. nice script!

those are a bit from the first of the digital juice high impact vol 1 9 of 40 jumpbacks.. I want to create a few really big avis with many thumbnails like that, so I can quickly preview them to decide which to use in projects..

Can anyone tell me how to expand the grid size, eg to 4x4 or 5x5 ??

If you use Tsunami to build the wall, you can pick any range of sizes you want including 4x4, 5x5, 4x5, 3x2, 10x15 ...

Thanks, I just bought/installed it in my Vegas 4e, getting an

"Error on line 42: Variable "Timecode has not been declared" error message - how can I fix that?

It didn't do that with the demo version..

UPDATE: In checking, it looks like your download link for the registered/paid version I bought is only for the Vegas 5 version. Please email me the registered version for Vegas 4 w/serial. Thanks.. ken@daytradinguniversity.com

Also, how to create a video wall without any margins around the video clips?

thanks,
