I'm trying to create a single dvd with 5 20-minute movies but when I preview it and hit the next button on the remote control, it doesn't go to the next one. Nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
For each movie, first double-click on the movie file in the project list (on the left side of DVDA). Then, on the right side of DVDA, find the "End Action." Set that to point to your next video. Finally, click on File -> Order DVD Titles and move the titles so they are in the playing order you want.
Hi and thanks to all who has responded. I didn't receive a topic reply notification so I didn't think anyone responded.
To answer the questions asked, I have 5 movies, not chapters. I imported all 5 movies, selected a theme, and then previewed it to make sure it looked like I wanted it to. I then tested the remote control in the preview to verify the buttons worked but they didn't and basically I'm stuck at that point. I haven't done anything else to the project.
When I click on the File menu, I don't see an option for 'Order DVD Titles'. Also, when I clicked on 'End Action', there were 3 choices: Command, Destination, and Destination Item. I assumed it was 'Destination' so i set it to the next movie for each of them but when I previewed the DVD only the first the title was highlighted and it wouldn't advance to the next title.
Maybe I should give a little more detail of what I'm trying to do. I want to put the DVD in my dvd player and a menu appear (no autoplay) so I can choose which title I want to play. That's where the being able to navigate comes into play. If anyone is interested in remote accessing my computer when I get home, I'm fine with that. Just let me know when you're available.
Okay, so when you hit Preview, what are you getting -- the menu with five buttons (one for each movie) or does one of the movies start playing?
If you get a menu, which "next button" are you hitting? Are you clicking the navigation buttion(s) (these are the arrow buttons that are around the big "ENTER" button near the top of the remote) or the Next Chapter button (this is the button near the bottom right. The Next Chapter button is for skipping chapters while you're watching a movie. To navigate around a menu, you want to use the navigation buttons.
No it doesn't solve my problem. I have included a link to a screen print so you can see what I'm talking about. The next button (or next chapter) is what I'm speaking of (circled in red) and it's not functioning in preview mode when I try to go the next movie. However, when I play a movie and hit next, it'll work then. But what I want to do is to be able to navigate before the dvd starts to play - just like a commercial dvd. So for instance, if I didn't want to start with movie #1, I could use the next button to skip to movie #3. Does it make sense now?
When you're at the main menu page (or any submenu page), you have to use the upper portion of the virtual remote. That is, the arrows that are located around the enter button. If you still can't move from one button to the next, you'll have to go into the buttons propery box, select Navigation and assign each arrow the "destination" or movie you want it to go to.
Then I can only assume you misread my post. Because your follow-up post confirms exactly what I suspected.
You are trying to use the Next Chapter button to navigate between menu items, and that's not what this button is for. You should be using the navigation buttons just as I said and as was repeated by aldo12xu. In the case of your menu, since the items are arranged vertically, use the Up and Down navigation buttons. Again, these are near the top of the "remote."
If your regular DVD player allows you to you move between menu items using the Next Chapter button, then it's in the minority. Most do not work that way and neither does the "remote" in DVDA's preview mode.
Ok Rob. I understand now. Gotcha and I see exactly what you're talking about. The navigation buttons work fine. That part is resolved.
Someone posted earlier that I should be able to 'Order DVD Titles' from the File menu but I don't have that option. Was this option taken out of the DVDA 4.5 or is there an update that I need to download?
you will see Vegas Movie Studio in three variations, and also Vegas Pro. Note that the first three ship with DVD Architect Studio, but Vegas Pro ships with DVD Architect 4.5. They are very different products, and the Pro has more features.
I don't own the Studio product and therefore cannot provide any more help, simply because I don't know what features it does and does not have. Someone else will have to help.
