Creating Blu-ray from multiple rendered files

Lijan wrote on 3/23/2011, 9:02 PM
I had to resort to breaking my mega-project into 4 separate parts in order to render successfully. I rendered the video and audio separately for each part.
I've done a search on this, but the "Knowledge base" answer #4505 and this one: http://www.custcenter.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4705/kw/multiple%20ren
DO not answer my question, because I've tried both and this doesn't work - probably because I have separate audio and video files for each part.
SO, can someone tell me how to join all these rendered parts together in DVDA and make my Blu-ray disc? I don't need it to be menu-based, just a single movie.

I have VMS HD 10 and DVDA 5
thanks

I would output each from Vegas MS as an HDV -- Make Movie/MPEG2 using the HDV 1080 60i Template.

Then I would open an HDV project in Vegas MS and join these outputs together into a single mix-down.

You can then use Make Movie to move this finished project to DVD Architect Studio.

I've never done this, but could you not render each sub project as a matching pair of HD video and sound files, import the video files into DVDA - thereby automatically bringing in the corresponding audio files - and then, within DVDA, create a music/video compilation.

Such a compilation would play continuously, although containing chapter breaks corresponding to the source clips. If this works it would avoid a double encoding.

Okay, found out I have to do this as a menu-based project in DVDA, and was able to drag the videos (which also added their audio files) to the "Menu" screen as instructed in this Knowledge Base answer:
http://www.custcenter.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4705/kw/multiple%20ren

I followed instructions 2,3 and 4; however, when I played back the video in DVDA, it stopped after the first video, and did not automatically play the second video.
What am I doing wrong?

You have to set the end action of the first video to point to the start of the second and so on. (Media Properties > End Action > Destination)

That is what I did, as instructed.....see below:

"2: Double click on the first video you added to the menu and navigate to Media Properties. Media Properties is located to the right of the video screen and contains buttons such as; General, Track Media, End Action, and Remote Buttons."

"3: Within the Media Properties window, select the End Action button. You should now see a list of options beginning with 'Command'. Change the Command option to Link, and the Destination option to the second video in the main menu. This enables the second video to begin playing immediately after the first video ends, without reverting back to the main menu screen."

All the parts are showing on the Main Menu Screen. I double-click on the first part and hit "play" at the timeline. Only the first part is showing on the timeline. It does not immediately continue on to Part 2.

Have you tried playing a Preview instead of just playing it in the workspace?

Yes, now it works when using the Preview - thank you!
