Creating text

Pretty basic question for the pro's here but I'm wondering if I can create powerpoint type presentations in Vegas and burn them to DVD. I know Vegas is a much more powerful program than Powerpoint and I'm wondering how I create text, then apply animations and transitions to them similar to Powerpoint [ except ]
with all the cool effects that Vegas has to offer?

Ummm, Media Generators / Text. Type in your text. It becomes an event on the timeline. Then do whatever you want with it. Be sure to check out the Position and Properties tabs. You can use the keyframes to move the text around the screen, change color, fade it in and out. Pan/Crop can be used to zoom in.

I use vegas to capture video, author cds and to integrate video into the weekly powerpoint at the church. Every week I create a short video (5 minutes or so) that includes pictures and/or video as a background and the weekly announcements. this short video "loops" as the people gather in the sanctuary.

Vegas in combination with "Bluff Titler" works great for such a thing.
