Creating the DVD

Ok, new guy here. Please bear with me. I am new to the Vegas Movie Studio/DVD architect game. In the past, all of my videos were created with Nero. Easy to use, but not many frills.

I am loving the Movie studio, adding of effects, editing music and video, etc, is soooo easy and the menus are quite intuitive.

My problem(let's call it a question, for now) begins when wanting to create my menu based DVD.

I am working on a video that will have roughly 10 scenes or titles on the DVD...as a generic example let's say "Day 1 of vacation", "Day 2 of vacation", and so on.

Do I need to create each scene as a seperate project file (.VF) in vegas studio, render as a .AVI file, then add each file into the menu using Architect? This seems like it will work, but, is there another way to do this? Perhaps creating my entire video in Vegas, with added markers that Architect studio will recognize and automatically assign titles?

I've tried the create new project wizard in VMS, create movie, burn to DVD dealy-o and I just can't seem to figure it out. I'm sure the answer is right under my nose but I am starting to struggle......and yes, I tried the show me how feature and just do not get it.....it worked great for transitions, audio fades, etc....

Any help would truly be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Assuming features are similarto "pro" versions :

Put markers in VMS where you want your chapters to be, and name them appropriately. Then when finished, render, and make sure "save metdata with file" is selected. Then in DVDA, get your media in as usual, and it will have chapters at the correct place already, and simply right click and choose to insert scene selection menu

Thanks Kenny. Fooled with it a bit this AM and I am almost there....seems I can simply add chapters while in architect, as well. Will report back later as I can't spend too much time on it today with 'The Man' lurking around the corner.

You certainly can add them in DVDA, yes. The reason why I suggested doing them in Vegas is because it will generate "I-framse" at your markers then, which are quite important for getting things to look perfect. Otherwise, in DVDA, when you add a marker, look for a "!" in the tombstone, it means that your marker needs moving a few frames left or right to hit an I-frame (which when moving, you should see a blue triangle in your media file which indicates where I-frames occur). That's complicating things, that may not need complicating by mentioning them - but at least you have an idea now of what to expect, and can learn more about them if you wan to.
