Creating Visual Effects in Vegas

Are there any sites, or topics within these forum's that would give good information on creating things like lightsaber effects within vegas? I have a group of kids that want to make their own little video and want to do lightsabers, but I do not have any clue on how to do that within Vegas.

Well if you are willing to spend about $120, there is a great program called Effects Lab DV. Very easy to use and the help forum is decent, but is flooded with "know it all" teenagers.
