Crop image to half screen

I tried a search on this but had no luck. I assume this is basic but I can't figure it out. Can you have two tracks that one uses the left half of the screen and the other uses the right? I have a photo montage of a bride and groom throughout their childhoods and I want to put their pictures on the screen side by side as they grow up. When I try the pan crop it is hard to get them to equal sizes (the two sides of the screens). Also, is there a way to crop a still image, and then move the cropped portion to one side of the screen? When I try this the whole photo moves. Thanks for any help.

It's easy to get exact sizes if you type the numbers in instead of dragging the crop handles. Use pan/crop to choose what part of the image you want to show and what shape you want it to be. Then use track motion to put it where you want it in the frame.

I thank you very much. Such a basic instruction but completely helpful in what I was trying to do. Sometimes no matter how much I search in the manuals I can't find what I assume to be easy tasks explained. Thanks for taking the time to answer the easy questions too!!
