Cropped edges on TV

Can anyone provide a work around to solve this issue I'm having here? I just tried to burn a S-VCD (480 x 480), it looks fine when I play it on the computer, but somehow when I play it through regular DVD player on TV, all the edges got cut off/cropped. I'm quite new using this Vid editing program so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Marty

480 x 480 is NOT the standard to play on DVD or any TV screens.... that is what i think
because computer monitors, or TV screens are NOT SQUARES, they are all rectangular

try using one of the program's preset standards for the resolution
NTSC DV (720x480)

I tried doing that however my CD-burner software (NERO) popped up an error message saying that 720x480 is not a standard, the problem is the standard Super-VCD is 480x480.

don't worry about the size of your frame being square. that's what pixel aspect ratios are for! (automatically set in the templates so don't worry about it)

the problem you are seeing is unrelated, and it actually isn't a problem, it's just a fact of life. most TV's crop the edges of everything. if you want to place things in your video, and you want to make sure they aren't off the edges, try turning on the 'Safe Areas' overlay. (from the drop down Overlay menu right above the preview window)

keep titles within the inner frame and you'll be safe. keep any action that you want to be seen within the outer frame. anything beyond that is potentially lost by the cropping effect of a TV.

That's what I've been looking for.. thanks for the tip, it's working great. I heard about other alternative is to use mask though, what's your suggestion on that? Is that a better option? In the meantime this simple solution is cool for me!
