cropping video on render

is it possible to create a narrow video, as if i cropped the edges in an extreme way, while at the same time not getting black borders on my rendered file? just to make this clear, let me re-phrase. Currently I have a person in the middle of my image. I would like to have a rendered WMV file of just him (maintaining the hight), but having very little video off to the right and left of him (cropping the right and left edge). While doing this, I cant have black borders on the rendered file. Any ideas?

thank you

You could blur the areas that you don't want to see.

You could replace the edges with a color or texture.

Use the pan/crop tool.

This may not be at all what you want, but you could use the bump map tool to cast a spotlight on the person, effectively blacking out what is to either side of him (using levels to keep the person from becoming overly bright. I recently used this to "highlight" my niece playing guitar in the center of the image, which caused the distracting things in the room to fade to black on either side of her.

When you said you didn't want black borders I assume you meant you didn't want cut and dried vertical black borders to either side.

So, do you want a video frame that is tall and skinny? You can define almost any rectangular shape you want. For example, you could set the project properties to 240 high by 80 wide to get an image that is only 1/3 as wide as it is tall. Use Pan/Crop to match the output aspect ratio, then slide the video side to side to place the subject in that area. When rendering select the Keep Original Size option to create the output file in this shape.
