Crossfade profiles

Am I right or am I dumb ?
Each time I do a crossfade between 2 videoclips, VV3 assumes a certain profile that I don't like. So, I must remember to right-click --> fade type --> rectilinear fade (it's the one I fancy).
Can we change preferences (or some ini file) so that the default is the one that we prefer ?
Same question goes to video fade-in / fade-out. Can I change defaults ?

Ah, and same question goes to Audio fades (crossfades and terminal) :-)

Thanks

GOOD question... I wonder how we can do this, too...

If you don't mind futzing up your config by playing around (sorry Futz!) you can hold Shift while going into options to access Internal options. From there you may find what you want.

DougHamm, you *really mean* it ???
I can't hardly wait to go home and try ...
(Internal settings .... miam miam miam !!!)

I take no responsibility for anything you might change. :) But there's useful stuff in there, for sure. I have my scanner save as .png instead of .jpg, for instance - configurable from within the Internal settings.

If you mess things up too badly, you can reset everything back to the defaults by quitting Vegas, then holding down the Shift + Ctrl keys while you launch it again. But keep in mind that this will reset ALL preferences and options, not just the internal ones.

Got it! Great!
BUT, is there a place now where we can find a list of all the options and their definition, etc. just so we know a little bit more what we are doing instead of trying, resetting, retrying, reresetting...? I checked in chapter 16 ("Customizing Vegas") of the "bible" but there's not that much of it there...

The advanced options has a "defaults" column that doesn't seem to have any utility ... besides telling us what was the original value.

It would useful to be able to set the default audio crossfade/fade type too...
