Give these poor guys a break. They shouldn't have to only have cubase as an option. Like the $199 offer we all got to buy vegas or $99 for acid pro 3[you'll snag them for the upgrade when acid 4 is released]. Later.
While I agree about providing disillusioned PC Logic users an alternative, I don't think SF has what most Logic users will be looking for as a replacement. Extensive MIDI editing, VSTi/DXi integration, softsynths/samplers(Logic has many included in program), low latency driver support(ASIO/WDM), which no SF apps have yet to adopt. A more natural fit on the PC for cross grading Logic users would either be SONAR 2.0 or Cubase SX. An informal poll on a Logic forum had PC Logic users favoring Cubase(more than 50%) as a viable alternative. Only a few percent(<2%) picked a SF app.
I agree totally with you but my angle is that "some" will take the plunge. Thats why I had suggested such a low price. With also "a glass is half full" view on the next upgrade of acid/vegas too. The most it would cost sofo would be a nice web page like the one cubase did...market both products well in a manner of "complementing" the other software that they own. DSE over at the creative cow web site had a booth at "NAB" that showed how he was able to edit his video project in Vegas and score in Sonar[while showing off the new features in SF6]. Whether they buy Sonar or cubase it has to be made evident that having vegas or acid WILL totally ADD to your creativity and make your DAW well rounded. Nomatter what the project you'll always be prepared. I am. I own Sonar 2.0XL,VV3.0c,SF6a,Acid3.0g,etc...Just a thought. Later.
