Cured GTX550 Video Issue by Moving Card

Just fyi, I was having inconsistent crashes in Vegas pro and my Battlefield 4 PC benchmark "application". Vegas would intermittently freeze and close. The "benchmark app" would randomly kick me out or freeze.

After reseating the card to no avail, I was ready to purchase a new card but decided to try a last ditch effort and move the card to the 2nd SLI slot. To my surprise, Vegas runs w/ out crashing and "the benchmark app" runs fine too. (Darn, I was ready to pull the trigger on a new 2G GTX 660). If it wasn't for "benchmark app" i probably would have wasted some money on a new card. (:

The Battlefield 4 app is strictly for testing purposes ONLY! Stress tests may run up to 2HRs a day (or more on weekends). (;

I would still think that there is something wrong with your motherboard. Is your card now running in PCIe x16 or x8 mode? What is your power supply model and spec?

Testing purposes only! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Yes, OldSmoke, I beleive it's PCIe x16, Power supply is 750W Corsair which runs cool and quiet. I agree there may be an issue w/ the mobo but at least things are more stable now. I'll be upgrading my hardware later this year.

It could be a socket issue. As long as you don't plug in another card in the other slot it should be running at x16; you can test it with GPU-Z; it will show the slot configuration while operating. Some of the socket 1156 boards will fall back to x8 even if there is no card in the first slot.
