curious

Right now I'm having a bit of a problem in VMS 6 Platinum. After rendering the video and audio are often out of sync. I will probably end up uninstalling and reinstalling VMS. But I rendered a video in Screenblaster 3 that I had previously rendered in VMS. The video and audio were in sync in Screenblaster, unlike the VMS. But the curious part was that the render times were very different for the programs. Screenblaster rendered the captured video into mpeg2 at about 135% of the playtime. VMS rendered it at about 210% of playtime. Anyone know why there would be a difference. If the video is about the same quality, I'll be rendering in Screenblaster when there is minimal editing.

A few things could be going on with the sync issue. It coud be your source or your method of capturing. It could be a memory issue with your computer. Sometimes some people have had a few issues with video cards. This begs the question - are the videos out of sync in the final product, or are you refering to the preview (before or during the rendering process)?

As far as the difference in rendering times - there are a large number of factors that could affect the length of time it takes to render.(amount of effects, compositions, video source, final project video settings, audio and video bit rates....etc. to name a few). If you are looking for a speed demon of a computer JonnyRoy has posted a dream pc at http://www.johnrofrano.com/pcequipment.htm

I suppose it is safe to say VMS is far more sophisticated than Screenblaster and therefore may consume more of your computers resources to accomplish similar takes and therefore may take longer. I guess you are happy with the results from Screenblaster - I am happy with VMS. Good luck with your videos

The quality of mpeg2 with Screenblaster is not as good as it is with VMS. The sync problem is in the preview and the final video. I have not had any problems until about two weeks ago. VMS worked nearly perfectly before then. But two weeks ago was the first time that I used the trim window. But since then I have uninstalled and reinstalled VMS. But after a short time were mpeg2s would render in sync, vms began rendering out of sync again.
