Does anyone around here have an updated list of supported cdr/cdrw drives for cd architect? all i find in the knowledgebase is a bunch of outdated crap and listings for burners that are 2-3+ years old. Technology moves on... Someone help, this really sux. I have a Yamaha 2100ez 16x10x40 cdrw and need to know if anybody's pro audio software supports the thing.
Thanks,
joblaq

As CD Architect has been discontinued and is no longer being updated to support new drives or tested with drives currently on the market, there is no updated list. The list of drives officially supported by CD Architect 4.0g is available at:

http://www.sonicfoundry.com/cdarchitect/drvsupp.asp

Many of the newer drives on the list can still be located by searching online mail order sites, such as:

http://www.pricewatch.com

Maybe some users have had success with specific drives currently on the market. Anyone out there having success with specific drives/configurations using the MMC-compatible manual settings in CDA?

I'm currently running a TDK 12x10x32 CD-RW and it runs on both WinME and WinXP (neither of which are officially supported OS's) just fine using the MMC settings. I did need to apply the version g update and install the updated Adaptec ASPI layer, but after that, I haven't made a single coaster. Burn-proof is supported by the drive, but normally that needs to be supported by the software. I was surfing the web, working on a Word doc and burning a CD with CDA and it completed perfectly.

I believe this was in the forum some time ago, but will repost since Nate asks for success stories. The SCSI MMC compatible driver in 4.0g supports the Plextor PX-W12432 drive. They are getting scarce but you might find a closeout. I did. No burnproof technology but with a 4MB buffer it will usually make a 12x CD if you don't breathe on it too hard :)

BTW, CDA does not auto-detect the drive, but after using "Advanced" under Select Drive, the drive choice sticks around for the subsequent use.

Peace
