Current Vegas 9 bug collection.

I want to submit a detailed bug report to Sony. Here are the bugs I've noticed so far. Please add to or help modify my list:

1/ Renders with .mov clips with PNG compression seem to crash a few frames into the render in Vegas 9 (both in the 32 and 64 bit versions).

2/ In Vegas 9, if you try to load in a .veg file that contains .mov clips from the file menu, it works as it should, but if you try to load the same file by clicking on the .veg from the Vegas explorer window, Vegas will not be able to find the .mov files. Not only that, but you if you point to the correct .mov files when prompted, Vegas still won't be able to find the files. This works fine in Vegas 8.

I'd hope they've got their own internal list compiled from the exception handler and touble tickets but anyways:

3) Rendering to Main Concept AVC 2 pass crashes Vegas immediately.

4) Playing back mp4 files can crash Vegas, even playing them from the trimmer.

5) DPX files decode with completely incorrect levels.

6) Random frame(s) from a 4K image sequence decode as black when composited.

Bob.

7. (ref. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=661144&Replies=0) Flash (SWF) on the timeline appears in the preview window to be a 25% of correct scale - I have not found a work around for this.

8. Adding a velocity envelope will sometimes cause the preview windows to turn red. Only a restart of the project will solve this.

9. Stuttering preview when starting playback

10. Abnormally high memory usage to the point where it makes renders impossible, AVCHD decoding and h.264 encoding seems to be one culprits, combine the two and you are really in trouble.

10b. Though adding a velocity envelope to a larger file seems to cause the entire file to be decoded into memory. That is the only explanation I can come up with as to why a 100MB file will cause 16GB of virtual memory usage. These works fine in 8c.

11. Same as 2 - but it works for m2t and mp4 filetypes also - and same issue when opening some veg files from the Vegas 9 file menu.
When you have specified the replacement file (same file) to 25 files one by one in the project you get "An unexpected error has occured" and a blank time line.
12. Vegas 9 can only open 20 percent of my Vegas 8.0c files - the rest shows crimson- red for some of the media in the timeline, crashes during opening the file or when trying to preview. Media is 720p mp4 and m2t.

16. 64-bit: During heavy use of the mouse wheel to zoom in/out of events, suddenly volume envelope grabs focus. Unable to release focus, have to close and restart Vegas to resolve. This has happened multiple times.

17. (32 bit) Cannot cancel a render. Scary thinking how many "bones" are left behind when I use Task Manager to end the program (XP 32 bit, SP3)

18. "Gigapixel stills" support does not work. It seems to be something like "GigaByte" which is 3-4 times smaller than "Gigapixel". Crash or low memory error during render.

19. Frequent red frames on timeline and/or preview window when using Cineform codec. Must restart Vegas to clear. This is after the aviplug.dll fix is installed as are the next bugs.

20. Frequent render crashes using Cineform codec in source media. Same project does not crash using original m2t media.

21. Frequent low memory errors during render. Seem to be more frequent using Cineform codec in source media.

22. In Vegas 9 - 64 bit: Opening a large project with many clips may result in a blank timeline. The project is there (it plays back!), but the timeline is completely white and never updated when other windows are dragged over it.

25 - Conserve Memory / CPU usage. V9 freezes on no perticular task. Never gets to error report. Ask Task Manager to shut V9.
V8 has run with no probs on core 2 duo with 4Gb memory.

Edit: V9 running on 32 bit XP pro.
