Cursor freezes when I click "play"

I have been editing for a solid week without a single problem, but now my screen keeps freezing and I have to control-alt-delete to restart. I have plenty of disk space left. Any suggestions?

No, nothing. Last night I downloaded aimster and winamp and plugged in a cable to connect to my vcr. That's it. A few days ago i loaded kodak picture cd, but no new hardware. Help!
