Vegas doesn't supply effects like you're looking for.

And I'm not sure where you could find a curtain effect, like that, but you might be able to use Bluff Titler and tweak this effect:

Digital Hotcakes "Home Movie Essentials", Vol 1 has several movies theater looks...including curtains opening or closing as you described.

I believe you can order individual tracks as well as the complete volume.

proDAD Heroglyph has this effect and let me tell you it's very convincing. I was shooting a play and was back stage setting the audio levels on my field recorder when they announced the start of the play. I ran back to my camera but missed the opening of the curtain. With proDAD Heroglyph and a static shot of the stage, I was able to recreate the curtain opening and no one was the wiser.

I forget which creative pack for Heroglyph that it came from but if you send them an email I'm sure they will tell you which one to buy.

Could you film a stage curtain and then use that ciip with a Vegas barn-door transition to "open" it?

You might want to combine that effect with a bezier mask.
