Custom Audio Options and Subtitles

Hi. Got a couple questions.

1. SUBTITLES:
I am wanting to add subtitles to a video I'm rendering to mpeg-2 to be burned to dvd thru DVD-A? In the manual (Vegas 4.0) it only gave the option of adding it to .wmv files.

2. CUSTOM AUDIO OPTIONS:
My project is a yoga video with 2 audio tracks: an instructional voiceover and the other background music. With either 4.0 or DVD-A 1.0, can I put in an option of turning off the background music so people can play their own tunes and have only the voiceover track playing?

THANKS!
Peace,
Tim

DVDA 1.0 has neither subtitle nor multiple audio track support. These features were added in DVDA 2.0. See Sony's comparison chart to see what DVDA 2.0 added. Alas, if you want to upgrade your DVDA, you have to upgraded your Vegas as well. (I did, and I haven't regretted it.)

You can "fake" both of these (sort of) in Vegas 4 / DVDA 2. For the subtitles, you can add text events to an empty track over your video in Vegas...though this means the viewer won't be able to turn off the subtitles.

For the audio tracks, if your video is short enough, then just put your video on the disc twice. In Vegas, render just the voiceover to one file, render the voiceover with the background music to another file. Add your video file to the DVDA menu twice, and assign either audio file to each item.
