"Custom" button for setting up rendering is greyed

Have latest MS 4.0, when I try to render several file types, such as MPEG-2 and wmv9,and click the Advance Render button, the "Custom" button is greyed. I would like to be able to click this button to modify rendered video bitrate. The button is not greyed for Real or MPEG-1
Any ideas?

OS: XP Home

Thanks,

Mike

The ability to adjust the MPEG-2 settings used to be an optional extra. The concensus of opinion was that it wasn't worth having and it was withdrawn with the MS v3.

Thanks for the reply. There is no way to adjuct the video bitrate of wmv or MPEG-2? This is very surprising to me. Maybe it is available thru some other means?

Thanks,

Mike

You can adjust the bitrate in DVD architect under optimize. Not sure if this is what you're looking for.

Thanks jimmyz. Actually, I would really like to modifiy the video bitrate in MS itself. I assume if I do it in DVD Architect it will re-render the video resulting in more processing time and quality loss. Also, I would like to do this for Windows Media files (wmv) for which I wouldn't use DVA.

Any other ideas anyone?

Thanks,

Mike
