Custom Buttons in DVDA4

I know, this is the Vegas Forum... but I can't find anything in the DVDA Forum...

How can I take a graphic (a logo for example) and use it as the 'highlight' when navigating through the on-screen menus of a DVD? DVDA allows for rectangle, boxes, etc. as highlights, but I want the logo to be the highlight and actually 'move' when the arrow buttons are pressed on the remote. For instance, I have four menu choices... I want the logo to start on Choice 1, then I want the logo to move to Choice 2 when the down button is pressed, etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Click on the "INSERT" tab in the tool line and go down the menu and click on "graphic." This should take you to your graphics folder, wherever it may be, that has your logo. Then double click on the logo you want in the menu and then go back to the menu and click on the graphic box which is now there and you have it. Next, right click on the graphic and use the "navigate into" spot on the menu to take you to the timeline. There, use the "in" and "out" icons to plot what you want to show in your video when this menu icon is clicked. Do it for each menu icon in the order you want for the movement between the highlighted icons.

Burt... the 'Navigate Into' selection is greyed out. Do you know why?

Also... I may not have explained myself correctly, but I only want one logo on the screen at a time... not four. I want this one logo to move to each chapter selection when the remote control arrows are pressed.

There's no "Navigate into" option because graphics on a DVDA menu are just that -- graphics. They just get embedded into the menu background and don't really serve any functional purpose.

As for what you want to do, keep in mind two things:

1. Highlights don't "move" -- they are simply hidden and revealed as needed.

2. Highlighting is not done with images, but rather with shapes of color. As such, if you want the current selection to be indicated by, for example, a full color graphic, then you can't depend on ordinary highlighting.

That said, you can cheat. ;-) Read this thread for a solution that was suggested by another forum member and implemented by myself. My last post in the thread gives an example DVDA file and an explanation to how it works.
