Custom fade in/fade out *help*

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone could help me with fade ins and fade outs. When I try to do either one, there is a certain amount of space each time I slowly move my mouse to either make the fade in/out longer or slower.

I'm just wanting to know how I can enter in a time for the fade in instead of using my mouse for it.. since for the video I'm working on the fades are either too long or too slow.

I'm used to editing the amount of time for fades, and I'm not that all familiar with vegas since I just purchased it today. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

First, to make it easier zoom in to the timeline.

When you use your mouse .. as you are adjusting the fade .. you will see a box next to the cursor that shows the exact duration of the fade in seconds and frames. This changes as you move your mouse.

Thanks, I will give that a try right now.

I'm in a similar boat where I'm trying to learn everything now. It's true that zooming in on the timeline helps tremendously, especially when trying to fade very short clips.

The up and down arrow keys are my friend.

Added: As is the mouse scroll wheel.
