Custom Gradient Wipe not functioning

Hey all!

So I've been working on trying to create a drawing effect, and the best way I've seen it done is to trace lines in Photoshop as a gradient, then add the gradient line as a custom transition for the line I wish to draw. However, it isn't working: the line simply appears at the end of the transition. Messing with the Blend and Blur only fade the line in completely, instead of along the gradient path I've specified.

All of the stock gradients work (Star, linear, etc) but whenever I try to add my own custom gradient, it doesn't work.

I've attached a photo to demonstrate the issue:

As you can see, it's nearing the end of the transition, and yet the line is no where to be seen (when it should be almost finished the gradient path).

Then, at the end:

It simply appears.

Any reason why this may be happening? Thanks for the help!

Is that the gradient line you are BROWSED to? What does it look like straight?

I've been doing map animations for the last couple of weeks the way you describe and they work fine. It doesn't matter which specific transition you use. It's only the gradient file that is important.

Upload the 2 png files (line and gradient) onto dropbox (or whatever) and send me a PM with a link and I'll try them on my system. I use V13 but also have V12.

DonaldT - It is the gradient line I browsed to and functions just fine with other lines I've drawn, but for some reason this one doesn't want to function.

wwaag I'll send you a PM with the files tomorrow, they're on my work computer. Thanks for the help!
