I am using a Microsoft 5 button wireless mouse. I have configured the left two buttons on the mouse as return and spacebar.
This has greatly simplified the operation of VV3.

Check out the Contour Shuttle Pro

Currently there is no VV3 template. Just use the one for VV2 and change the Jog wheel to the style of AVID's Xpress DV JKL shuttle and the 'L' (loop) to 'Q' (new loop).

The Shuttle PRo looks way cool! Thank you all for your replies. I usually edit with the mouse as much as possible but lately it seems keys would help. My problem is going between Steinberg, Sonic Foundry, Propellerhead, Emagic and Adobe can really get you confused after a while!

Whtrabit,

Two tools that I'm very fond of are the Microsoft Strategic Commander, and the Intellimouse Family of mice. As mentioned previously, the Intellimouse Explorer mice have five buttons, plus wheel scrolling. Even better is the fact that the 4.01 software package allows any key to be bound to a button. Not only that, but you can have the program change your mappings depending on what software application is used, which opens up some wonderful possibilities.

The Strategic Commander is a programmable device much like the Shuttle Pro, but without the jog wheel (which looks like a really cool device, BTW). Despite its lack of the wheel, it makes up for it with 72 total programmable buttons, navigational "floating joystick" movement, and three selectable profiles. It's touted as a controller for RTS games, but I've been using it for my SoFo apps for the past year. So cool. The nice part is that you can bind any number of keystrokes or mouse clicks to any button, and in any order. You can even create timed macros (think of the possibilities). In combination with the Intellimouse, it's the next best thing to a control surface. Also, perhaps check out some of the Microsoft keyboards. They include some spiffy functions and assignable hot keys that could help you out too.

I'd be very interested to see what keystroke bindings you've been using with the Strategic Commander. I've been experimenting with it a bit myself for controlling Vegas and Sound Forge, but I've never managed to come up with a set of key bindings that I've been happy with.

I don't suppose there's any chance you'd be prepared to email me the profile you've evolved, so I can see if it would work for me too?

Many thanks in advance.

Mark
