Cut-Paste properties

I'm trying to set all the properties of selected .avi clips within Project Media (preferably - or even on the Timeline) to have the same properties but can't seem to get the "use custom timecode" field/values to copy onto selected files using the "Paste Event Attributes" command. (after setting one clips properties to "use custome timecode" and setting it to 00:00:00:00)

We are Video Capturing from DigiBeta to multiple .AVI's using Sony Capture, which imbeds the timecode from the tape into the file, we then need Combustion to match the timecode of edits from Vegas - problem is Combustion(!) recognises the timecode in each .avi as starting from 00:00:00:00 - (not the imbedded tc). So we are trying to get Vegas to change all timecode values to custom starting at zero for each clip.

Are you trying to get Vegas to change the embedded TC?

I seriously doubt it'll do that.

However if you render the files back out of Vegas as new AVIs the embedded TC will start at 0.

Hi Bob,

We are not trying to change the imbedded TC, but render out the edited project (using the script "add timecode to all media") with TC burnt in(to the source clips) so that Combustion can then use that clip as a reference edit showing the TC in & outs. The problem is that Combustion doesn't recognise the imbedded TC of the original source clips, or have proper EDL support, so we have to visually match the frame to do serious composites. On lots of shots this is very time consuming and fraught with inaccuracies.

This is not a Vegas shortcoming. I think we all get so spoiled with Vegas' ability to do so many things that we expect the rest of the world to be so good.

Had success with Scripting. Posted the same question on the Scripting Forum and JohnnyRoy replied with a script that does exactly what we needed - works a treat.

Thanks hugely JR
