cut & paste transition?

Hello,
I have about 40 short video clips in one project and would like to use the same intro and outro transition on each (a push in & push back out).

Is there a way to just copy and paste the transition from the 1st clip to each of the other 39? I tried copying and "paste event attributes", but that didn't work.

Any other ideas?

Just had a play with this (v7d). It seems you can do it under the right circumstances.

Create your desired transition between clips one and two.
Copy the transition (right click and Copy)
Find the next transition (the one you want to make the same as the first)
IF IT IS NOT a simple crossfade then right click, transition, change to crossfade
Paste event attributes will then do what you want.

In other words, if the receiving transition is NOT a simple crossfade, then it will not take the pasted transition type.

Bug? Or by design?

You had me curious too so I played with it for awhile.

Apply the desired transition between clips 1 & 2 (replacing the dissolve).
Double click the transition area it to highlight it.
Right-click - Copy.
Right-click - Select Events to End.
Right-click - Paste Event Attributes.

I find II can only paste event attributes if I have selected one transition - Select Events to End does not work. Dunno why I'm getting different results. I'll upgrade to 7e & try.
The receiving transition MUST be a crossfade - not a dissolve or anything else.

Tim, I'm using 7d as well so it should work for you.
When you say Select Events to End does not work., are you following my steps exactly as written?
i.e. are you right clicking only on the transition area?
The transition area must remain highlighted for this to work properly, hence the reason for right-clicking and selecting what to do.
Remember to double click the transition area to highlight it.
Paste Event Attributes is the last step in this chain.

edit: You can also do it this way.
1. Lay your timeline out using the default transition (dissolve);
2. Double-click the transition area to highlight it;
3. Right-click this area and select Select Events to end;
4. Apply your desired transition to the highlighted are on the first event.
All events will now have this transition.

Thanks Mike. Prior to the paste attributes I was right clicking further along the timeline (as I didn't want to apply the attributes to the transition I'd just copied, right?) All wrks OK after following your instructions to the letter (rather than thinking about it!)

It won't make any difference. Vegas is smart enough to know that you've already applied it so it'll just ignore it :-)

Of course, I realise that now, but my mistaken assumption wasn't entirely unfounded. If you apply effects to an event, copy, select events to end then paste attributes (ie perform the same sequence as you describe above) the effects are duplicated. I discovered this pretty early on when copying the same colour correction to events from a similar source. Very confusing as the first clip I'd taken time and effort correcting was suddenly far from correct :)
My understanding now is that this doesn't happen with transitions because if the transition is anything other than a crossfade the copied transition doesn't get applied.(Rather than Vegas is smart enough!)
