Cutting hum with Movie Studio

Hi, all

My camcorder (a Canon ZR-25 MC) produces a hum on the audio track. Using a trial version of full Vegas, I found that I was able to reduce this hum very effectively with a notch filter, using the Track EQ plug-in.

I decided to buy Movie Studio, as it has just about all the features I need. However, it doesn't include the Track EQ plug-in.

Can anyone suggest which plug-ins available in Movie Studio would work best to reduce camcorder hum?

Cheers

Although movie studio doesn't have the same efx as the full version of Vegas, it certainly must have some sort of eq included. I checked the comparison list on the site and it lists "more than 10" efx. Again, I would assume one of these would be an eq as its the most basic of all audio efx. Check it out more closely and try to replicate what you did with the track eq in the demo. If you find there's no eq, then there are some freeware plugins available that would be as good or even better than what's included with Sony apps. Perhaps someone else on the forum can offer a link to some of these or you could do a search on these forums and probably find something.

Thanks for the quick reply, drbam.

Movie Studio has an EQ plugin, but it only has 10 bands at fixed frequencies. It also has a Noise Gate plugin very similar to the one in full Vegas - I may give that a try, but I think it'd be better to filter out the specific frequency of the hum.

Any pointers to freeware EQ plugins are most welcome. I tried googling without luck.

I like and use the Digilogue Blue-Line Plug-In Pack DirectX plug-ins all the time. They sound good, great GUI, and free.
available in DX and VST.
