Cutting out Clips plus a few other questions.

I am confused (nothing new). I went back on my video that was completely edited and I edited out some clips in the middle of it. How do I get rid of the gaps I have created without manually moving each clip back. There must be a easier way to get rid of blank space in the middle of a video. I tried using the ripple effect but it didn't work, unless I was using it incorrectly. Any help is appreciated.

Another problem I am having is I inserted an envelop into a clip that I wanted to put into slow motion.1st thing I do is split the clip so that the part I wish to slow down is seperated from the regular clip. Once I adjust the clip making the part I want slower it becomes out of sync when it goes back to regular spead. I am forced to play with the other clips to try and match them up. (hope this makes sense).
Is there a way to adjust the speed of a clip and have it match up perfectly with the regular speed clip?

Also, when I printed the clip to tape, the part that was slowed down was very choppy. Is this normal for VV3?

you can right click and hit "select all clips after this point" or something like that, i forget the exact wording. 2nd... with the velocity envelope, instead of splitting the clip, use a keyframe. it'll work a lot better. To get rid of the choppiness, right-click on the slowed-down clip, hit properties, and check the "interlace filter" option. also, make sure you're rendering to "best". It works for me.

Thanks for the reply. The last 2 suggestions seem straight forward but what do you mean by using a keyframe?

To remove the gaps:
1. Make sure "Ribble Edits" is selected
2. Double click on the "gap" you wish to close
3. Hit the "delete" key

I normally do the following for Slow Motion:
1. Split the event that you want to slow down (just like you've already done)
2. Add a gap between the event you wish to slow down and the event just to the right of it (Make it somewhat greater than the added time the slow motion will take)
3. Press the control key and drag the right edge of the event you want to slow down to the right. (Preview until the speed is what you want)
4. Remove any remaing gap by using the method I described above.
5. Right click the slowed down event and under "Switches" select "Resample" and "Reduce Interlace Flicker"
6. Render using the "best" setting
