Cutting problem:-((

I have recently noted one problem when cutting uncompressed avi. I have created a 4 seconds Avi (uncompressed, because the Ms Dv coced render option in the program make a very bad color palette:-(() with the great Mainconcept's MainVision with a fractal random animated backgrounds (the coolest thing it's that this avi is loopable in Vegas). The problem is that when i do a render to a new track, to have a normal DV avi with SOFO codec, the program autmatically add some black frames at the start.

I have removed all the option in the editing properties (fade edit edges is disable or set to zero), and i have tried to make a resampled clip, but i have always some black frames at the start of the clip when i cut ( but the cut works properly when i cut a normal Dv acquired from dv tape).

Any suggestion?

Tnx a lot in advance!

Do the frame rates match? Is the uncompressed AVI event trimmed at all? When you step through the timeline by hand (@ Best Quality), does it show a black frame there?

Congrats on making your own looping backgrounds.

Yes. 25 fps, it's a normal pal (i use Pal, of course:-))

> Is the uncompressed AVI event trimmed at all?

Nope. The uncompressed Avi, it's pure, non trimmed (because it's perfect done for looping in MainVision). When i see it(uncompressed) under the preview, it's a perfect looped animation, without any blackframe (with one single clip selected and loop playback enabled, but it works also if i enlarge the clip with loop swith enabled).

But if i do a render of this clip (i select with a simple double click under the clip) to a new track, i have a new longer clip, with these damned black frames at the start. Then if a do a cut to this clip to delete these bòack frames, it cut normally, but the black frames are still , another time, added at the right side of my clip, the new beginning of the clip.

This problem it's exaclty the same, with another machine W2k and Vegas3.0c normally equipped

Yes, also @ best quality (and also with enternal preview), i have always the black frames there (at the beginning of the clip):-((

Then the problem is not with rendering, it's with the source clip or it's placement on the timeline.

Most likely it's the timeline placement. Turn on "Quantize to frame" and place the event. This will ensure that the first frame is on a frame location. Otherwise, if it's not, when you time select it, the render start frame rounds down below the event, so you get black.

If that's not it, then open the clip in the Trimmer and examine the frames there to make sure it doesn't start with a black frame.

Success?
