Date and Time Codes: How to access them in VV3

Any properly set up DV camcorder records the exact date and time that a shot is made. I have been trying to access this information from inside VV3, researching here and there, looking in Help, etc.

I can find NO way to get this information without going outside the computer, back to the camcorder.

Please, tell me I am missing something. How do YOU find the date and time information when you need to use it INSIDE VV3?

Right now, I believe the answer is: You don't. I also have found no way to get this information from within Vegas. I would like to see the "timecode effect" modified so that it can show the original time-code and original date/time, as well as what it currently shows.

If you capture the DV footage thru vidcap, you will find the information for each clip. It is visible when you switch to the details view.

I use Vegas' Video Capture. When in VV I switched to the Edit Details, but don't see anything about the actual day and time of the shot. Just other details. And, even at that, if it is not a very elegant way to get the information. Why not IN the clip. Or a Roll over with the information in one of the blank areas at the top or bottom of the screen. Or, both? The information is obviously there, but not easily accessable.
