Dazzle DVC 80 dropped frames and audio sync

I recently purchased a Dazzle DVC 80 to capture some analog recordings. For short captures, it works fine with VV3's capture program. The problem I'm having here is when I try to capture a full 2 hour tape. By the end of the capture, my audio is out of sync by about 15 frames. I tried streatching the audio to compensate, by then I get a very annoying "beating" in the audio.

Also, when capturing the video, I get lots of dropped frames (even on short captures). For a 2 hour capture, I get a few thousand dropped frames. In a 10 minute capture, I probably get a couple dozen dropped frames.

My system is a 1.7 GHz P4 and I have a seperate hard disk just for capture. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong or how to eliminate the dropped frames? Maybe the DVC 80 just isn't really compatible with VV3 capture...
