When you want to take the snapshot, click on the project properties and select progressive for the field order. Make sure you select a de0interlace method that is best for your picture. Then take the snapshot. Afterwards if you are working with interlaced, just go back and reset the field properties in the project properties.

There are scripts that do this, which is what I would recommend. It is a pain in the neck to change all these settings each time you want to take a snapshot. I think the "snapshot" script is still over at the VASST site.

I use that script all the time. The only thing you have to do is replace all the references to "Sonic Foundry" to the word "Sony" and it works fine in Vegas 5 & 6.

When I want a high quality still from Vegas, I just capture an interlaced still, past it into Photoshop, resize it to half height, export it into Photozoom Pro, then resize it to whatever size I want using a Lancoz resize algorythm and setting the height to twice the width value. It looks noticably better than any other way I've tried.
