Is there any magic soup to getting the best out of the footage from the old F900?
I appreciate that by todays standards that is not a stellar camera or codec being only 3:1:1. I also recall the post workflow diagram for the first Start Wars shot on this camera involved some magic being done with hardware boxes in post. If I was to get a post house to simply ingest the tapes via HD-SDI as uncompressed QT or AVI and then online that with Vegas do I loose anything bypassing the black boxes doing noise reduction etc.
Assuming all that sounds reasonable enough I guess I would batch convert all the camera original uncompressed files to 4:2:2 MXF for an easier Vegas experience. One concern here is not loosing timecode from the original camera tapes.
