Debut CD done entirely with Vegas

Our band's debut CD, Under Skin, was just released and we did it all with Sonic Foundry products, primarily Vegas 3.0. Vegas made everything easy in my opinion and I loved working with it. No complaints!

FYI: I used SF products on Win2K and Aardvark's Q10 for my hardware (also a great product!)

Go to the website for links to the CD and MP3's.

Great job guys!
Maybe you could elaborate on the recording setups, mics, etc... this is really cool!

Call me nuts but I still hear a " Vegas Sound "

I agree with you a 100% here, there' s a Vegas Video sound there. I don't really know what to think of this. It's got to be something with the compression Sonic Foundry uses. But one thing, I agree that Vegas generates some sound recognizable in all tracks it's recorded. I honestly don't know if this is good or not.

PS : I think your music is very cool, keep up the good work.

For the drums, we used SM57's and some tom mics the drummer bought (I can't remember what brand), plus a Beta 52 for the kick and bass. Guitars were Gibsons and Marshalls through a 57 pushed up into the grill. Vocals were record on an AKG C3000 and 57's. We used Monster cables for everything into an Aardvark Q10 into a Dell 1Ghz, 512 mb RAM machine.

Plug-ins I used were Timeworks Reverb X, Timeworks Compressor X, Steinberg Magneto, Oberheim OB Tune, Arboretum Realizer Pro, a couple others, and the Sonic Foundry stuff.

Don't hear a "Vegas" sound, but haven't used it and other software enough to judge.
