Decklink still not working it seems

Had to capture some DB today, really needed the whole 10bits as it's straight from camera neg. Got all excited when I downloaded the latest BMD drivers and V8 found them, and deck control worked. And then all I captured was black. What a bummer.
So I fired up CS2, the BMD install had also created all the profiles to suit, that was neat. Captured 10bit YUV. All worked. Timecode matched what was on the VCR. Looking good. Those CC for dummies FXs in Ppro made the film look pretty good real quick too. But try as hard as I could Ppoo couldn't find the audio.
Opened the same AVI in V8 and heck it worked there too. Except the T/C is from who know where. But on the upside the audio was there no sweat.
The final twist, somehow installing the BMD drivers seems to have hosed XP so that no version of DVDA will run, even after a fresh install of DVDA 4.5b. Part of the crash dump shows it was trying to run an AJA dll ??
Think I need a stiff drink.

I've noticed the timecode thing in the past with DV files. Near as I can figure it, the two programs must place the timecode info into diffferent header fields so that PPoo and Vegas can't read each other's time code. VERY inconvenient.

Does decklink provide their own standalone capture tool? Seems a shame for SCS to "support" Decklink cards but you still need to install PPro.

On the audio thing in PPoo, that's probably fixable somehow. Just yesterday I was listening to some grumbling about bringing in audio on our Axio systems, but some of that is caused by an expectation that it would work like a professional system...allowing you to not take audio, or take it as mono tracks, or stereo tracks. PPoo and Vegas are prosumer apps and audio is handled more "-sumer" than "Pro-". The grumbler has some contortions he goes through to force ppro to do what he wants but had forgetten just what they were.

AJA dll? That's wierd.

I think the AJA problem might have come from the Prospect2K install. Funny that it doesn't seem to have hosed Vegas though.

Doesn't BMD Deck Control work for Capture?

Try to capture a small clip using it then pull it into Vegas.
This was the only work-around I found a few versions back since Vegas didn't see the BMD card and Premiere Pro would only capture using certain presets with the card. I switched to using the BMD Deck Control app for Capture and things seemed to be fine. All of my captured footage works in Vegas, FCP, & Premiere Pro.
