"Would using a Decklink card work for outputting D1 NTSC video + audio to a Beta deck?"
Which kind of "Beta deck"?
If SP then you'll likely need a card with component outputs, don't know though if you can feed CC down component??
If DigiBeta then just the basic Decklink card will do. No idea though if they work with the current version of Vegas or not.
Also far, far from certain about CC and Vegas. If I'm not badly mistaken that is encoded into line 21 and Vegas has no mechanism to do this.

Thanks Bob for your reply.

It’s a Beta Sp deck.
As long as it is D1 NTSC the CC should make the trip.

You are correct on legacy equipment I would need a line 21 encoder.
The CC Company provides a file/clip that has just the CC line and you just drop it onto the NLE timeline and then output.

Sending video to the beta sp deck goes via firewire - DV deck component out; and that kills the CC

So I assuming a decklink component card would work on my system and with Vegas...maybe?

I have Vegas version 5,6,9

I was hoping someone else would chime in.
As far as I know you cannot do this with Vegas. i could be wrong here but I'd really suggest you get some input from either someone who has done this or SCS themselves. As far as I know Vegas will not let you place anything in line 21, it just isn't there. Having said that I'm not 100% certain because I seem to recall one of the times I did capture Digital Betacam over SDI I did get that annoying line 21 dancing around on the top of the frame and I had to change a setting in the VCR to blank it.

Certainly there was someone here very recently saying one of the reasons he was going to Avid's MC was because it did support CC.
