default settings

I hope I can explane this properly. I would like to have vegas platinum open the same way each time no matter which default settings I change, or what I do in a session.

Right now, if I make a setting change, and I want to undo it, and I can't, at least I would know I could close the program and the setting I made in error would not be active when I opened the program again.

Before I found this chat room I skrewed up the docking window, and could not get it back to the default, so I had to uninstall the program, and re install it again.

I don't want to do that again.

If you hold down Ctrl and Shift together while starting Vegas it will restore all the original installation defaults for everything.

I'm with arthur on this one. I had to do the samething he did. That is awesome info to know Chienworks, thank you for sharing that.

Is that in the manual by the way? I looked for how to reset defaults but couldnt find it.

Also is there a way to create your own workspace and save it? This would be awesome too, that way we can set things how we want and just restore back to our saved workspace if we screw it up.

Thanks.

It can be done with the pro version but i'm not sure about the studio version. Should be easy enough to find out. Set up the screen however you want it to look and press Ctl+Alt+D, then a number 0 - 9 (you can save up to 10 different arrangements). Move a few things around, then Alt+D and the same number again. If Vegas studio has this feature then your screen will revert to the way it was when you did Ctl+Alt+D.

There are some track default settings you can change to your liking. Set up an audio track and a video track with the size you like and whatever effects and other settings you normally want to use. Right-mouse-button click in the track header and choose "save track defaults". These changes will now be the new defaults for new tracks.

Note that starting Vegas with Shift+Ctrl will undo anything you set with the methods i just described.
