Default video bit rate Mbps - use default 4.462?

Hi -

One other question, using DVDA 6; for maximum compatability / best image quality combination, should I use the standard 4.462 Mbps "Default video bit rate" setting?

I remember from years ago, it's best to set the bit rate such that it's as close to filling up the disc/4.4Gb as possible, but without being so high it causes playback issues on BD-R (especially old model) players.

Any updated tips/guidance on best default video bit rate, or just "Fit to Disc" etc?

thanks - I'm doing a big important multi-dvd course, and want to get it right

Use a bitrate calculator. DVD optimal bitrate depends on length.

You will be pretty safe if you set the average bit rate at no more than 8 Mbps. This should play on all modern equipment and give you a bit over 1 hour on a single layer DVD (depending on audio and menu requirements).

You can go down to say 5 Mbps with only a modest drop in quality, depending on the content of course, or lower still if you think that the quality is good enough.
